You have designed a solid strategic plan.  You invested the appropriate time and effort with your executive team formulating it and everyone feels satisfied that the annual targets are achievable.  Did you know that the HBR estimates that only 20% of strategic plans get executed successfully?  Now that you have the plan, the more important question becomes, “how do we get in the winning 20% circle?

A step towards success is to get everyone in your organization on the same page.  Not only do they need to understand the strategy they need to be able to communicate it to others in the company. Everybody needs to get in the pool and swim, no stragglers, no excuses.

Employees need to articulate the following key components of the company’s strategy accurately.

1)    Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAGR) progress is tracked and visible.

2)    Core Customer(s) – their profile in 25 words or less.

3)    3 Brand Promises – and the corresponding Brand Promise KPIs reported on weekly.

4)    Elevator Pitch – a compelling response to the question “What does your company do?”
